CANCELLATION / TEACHING POLICY

PAYMENT & ATTENDANCE POLICY

To ensure consistent lesson availability, secure scheduling, and sustainable business practice as a self-employed teacher, the following payment and attendance policy applies to all pupils.

PAYMENT TERMS

  • All singing lessons are invoiced monthly in advance and payment is required one month in advance.

Lessons are priced as follows:

– 30 minutes: £22

– 45 minutes: £35

– 60 minutes: £45

If full monthly/termly payment in advance is not possible, a weekly payment arrangement may be agreed in advance at the teacher’s discretion.

Payment secures your allocated lesson time each week or fortnight (depending on your agreed schedule).

Pupils who attend alternate-week lessons will be invoiced only for the relevant lessons within the month.

ATTENDANCE & MISSED LESSONS

  • All lessons are reserved specifically for each pupil and are therefore payable whether attended or not.
  • If a lesson is missed due to illness, travel, personal commitments, or any other reason, payment is still required to secure the scheduled time. However, missed lessons are not lost but must be rescheduled and used within 1 month of the original lesson date.
  • Any lesson not rescheduled within this 1-month period will be considered forfeited and will not be refunded.

RESCHEDULING

  • Pupils are asked to provide two preferred days per week at the start of their lessons (or whenever availability changes), to assist with efficient rescheduling where needed.
  • If a lesson needs to be moved, it will be rearranged based on mutual availability, ideally within the same week or within the 1-month make-up window.
  • Pupils attending weekly lessons may occasionally be offered two sessions in one week or should space allow it a doubled slot in one go in order to accommodate rescheduled or missed lessons.

TEACHER CANCELLATIONS

  • If the teacher must cancel a lesson for any reason, the lesson will either be rescheduled or carried forward, and any payment already made will be credited to the following month or future lessons.

HEALTH, VOICE CARE & ILLNESS POLICY

Singing is a physical discipline, and vocal health is a priority. Pupils must not attend lessons if they are experiencing symptoms of a heavy cold, sore throat, contagious cough, flu, Covid, or any other contagious illness.

If a pupil attends a lesson visibly unwell or with symptoms affecting the voice, the lesson may be rescheduled at the teacher’s discretion, and the standard cancellation policy will apply.

Once symptoms have significantly improved and the pupil feels able to sing safely, lessons can resume. In most cases, contagious risk reduces after the first 7 days of symptoms, depending on illness type and severity.

This policy is in place to protect:

  • The pupil’s voice from strain or damage while unwell
  • The teacher’s health and ability to continue delivering lessons to pupils within the teaching environment
  • People should not sing through infection or inflammation
  • You also risk training bad technique when the voice is compromised

TERMINATION OF LESSONS

If you decide to stop lessons, please let me know as soon as possible. Whilst there is no requirement to continue attending lessons once you’ve decided to stop, payments already made are non-refundable.

Any prepaid lessons may be taken before your final lesson date or rescheduled within the existing 1-month make-up period, subject to availability. Unused lessons remaining after this period will be forfeited and cannot be refunded.

This policy allows lesson spaces to be managed fairly while recognising the commitment made when booking regular tuition.

CONCLUSION

This policy is designed to ensure fairness, consistency, and respect for both the pupil’s learning journey and the teacher’s time as a professional, self-employed business.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
