Olivia Piper is a professional soprano vocalist, she began teaching back in 2017.
She on the side of her singing career runs an Adult Ballet group, a musical theatre club, a school choir and a dementia/Parkinson’s choir and teaches one to one singing and dance lessons. Olivia is still branching her business out, trying to make the arts accessible to everyone who wishes to participate. Singing. Dancing. Acting. Whether it be to push your career to the next level or just to fill your soul. Olivia teaches a variety of age groups and embraces each individuals talents and strengths.
Olivia’s motto for teaching and the arts is ‘living and staying within your comfort zone will not provoke the greatness that is within you, sometimes you just need someone to throw you in the deep end but to not leave you, but to teach you how to swim. We can’t get there alone’ Taking people to the next level, whether that even be a social confidence, being able to open up and be the real free you. That is so important for life. No one wants to be a prisoner of their own mind. The arts pulls out the confidence within people. I’ve watched people who were once mutes, now grow to being the biggest chatter boxes and their smiles have changed along with them, it looks different now, much brighter and more alive. This is why I teach, to watch the growth and to help encourage that growth within people of all ages.
Olivia found her love for singing at age 3, where she did my first solo in front of an audience of 1000 people at the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells. Her love for dance began at age 2 where she started dance lessons at the Jo Christie Dance Centre, which is now known as SO Dance Academy in Crowborough.
It was safe to say she found her passion in life very early on and across the years has grown from strength to strength.
She has achieved her ATCL Trinity Board, Performance Diploma with Distinction as well as achieving an Intermediate level and over in various dance styles including: Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Freestyle, Hip Hop, Theatre-craft and Musical Theatre.
At the age of 9, she was chosen out of 1000’s of applicants to sing the opening solo at the Voices for a Better World concert at the 02 Arena in front of an audience of 16,000 people. This truly got her drive for performing underway.
Following that performance, she performed lead roles in several musicals at the Stag Theatre, put on various charity concerts, featured in both local and across the UK concerts, performs for private London events, Corporate events for Redbull and various livery Companies, vocalist for many funerals and weddings and sings on a regular basis in care homes. Despite her active performing career she enjoys being able to offer her guidance to all her pupils no matter what age.
Olivia is the assistant principal at Born to Perform Stage School in Sevenoaks where she teaches all three art forms, singing, dancing and drama. This school has been running since 2017 where Olivia was the first teacher hired and she has enjoyed watching the business flourish across the years to being a fully fledged drama school that is a force to be reckoned with.
In conclusion, teaching an art form is like having control of that persons destiny, treat it with care and help nurture that talent at the perfect rate for that individual to allow for the best results.
